Unlike many other HW makers, Svalboard uses 100% open source software, always, including on the host side. The community is vibrant and has been busy building amazing tools to help you customize your layout and even train your usage. Best of all, these tools remain fully open to help others in the input development community!
Keybard: the pure javascript custom live layout editor.
Incredibly responsive and powerful, Keybard replaces the Vial frontend with a blazing fast single-page webapp. It maintains ~the full Vial featureset, but adds a ton:
- a more efficient flow for Tap Dance and Combo configuration
- layer copy/paste/clear
- live and save-based editing modes
- offline layout editing
- ultra-responsive matrix tester
Svalbr: Svalboard training webapp:
A Svalboard-specific fork of the amazing Keybr.com to help you learn any layout, from the default to the most Sval-optimized Hands Down variants.
Svalbr lets you load your own alpha layout on a Svalboard Lightly visualization to guide you through the learning process for any layout. It highlights the letter to strike, and shows you a heat map of your hit/miss rates on a per-key basis so you can fine-tune your fit and choose test material to drill on weak points.
